home  [hoʊm]
–noun: house, apartment, or other dwelling place that is the usual residence of a person, family, or household

For magazine homes features, I offer a complete package from sourcing the location and interviewing the homeowner to styling and arranging the photography. I am however equally open to working with a photographer of your choice. Over the last couple of years I've been working with the photographer, Oliver Beamish, who has extensive experience in the homes market and a wonderful portfolio of interiors photography for magazines including 25 Beautiful Homes, Beautiful Kitchens and Australian Interiors. Totally professional and a pleasure to work with, Oliver has also done photography for corporate clients Smallbone, Fired Earth and Bathstore.

Depending on the brief, copy is submitted with all the details the editorial team will need - having worked as a sub-editor, I pay a lot of attention to providing accurate, up-to-date information and details of stockists and products as a matter of course together with contact information for checking queries. Images always come with captions and credits, and after the shoot I'm always at the other end of a phone to deal with last-minute queries and requests for additional material or details.

With such a huge interest in interior design, renovation and property development, magazine editors are always on the lookout for beautiful and photogenic homes. This type of feature is always complimentary and not in any way invasive - and please rest assured that personal details indicating the precise location of your home would never be published. I would also offer you the chance to see my draft copy before it's submitted and offer you the opportunity to make any amendments or correct any inaccuracies - or simply take out anything you don't feel completely comfortable with.

Having said that, it's important to be aware that readers want to know a little about the homeowner, how they live and their background - this helps to ground the piece and add reality to a feature and flesh out the story. This normally consists of a brief description of who lives in the house, their occupations and a little bit about their lifestyle, together with information about roughly how much the house and any renovation work cost, and how they tackled the decorating and any renovation work. And magazines will almost always like to include a picture of the homeowner in the article - but don't worry - it will be flattering.

It's common sense, really - imagine yourself reading a homes magazine - these are the things you would want to know. So if you have a house that you think may be suitable for a magazine homes feature, or if you'd like to chat further and find out more about the sort of work I do and what it entails, please don't hesitate to give me a call or email - you'll find my contact details at the bottom of the page. Your house doesn't need to be grand or huge - magazines are looking for all types of homes, from fabulous historic chateaux to chic loft apartments - and just about everything in between.

Please don't feel offended, though, if your house isn't snapped up immediately - this will probably be nothing to do with the fact that it's not beautiful enough; it may simply be that the magazine I've approached has recently had a glut of cosy cottages and they're now looking for sleek, modernist interiors or quirky conversions. I tend to approach magazines one at a time and wait for a reply before offering a house to another one. Having been on the other side of the fence, I know how galling it is to schedule a feature only to be told that another magazine has just beaten you to it.
